DJ Tektrix

tektrix

Cary a.k.a. DJ Tektrix joined us in June 2000. Tektrix's first love is for hard techno but you can hear her throw down anything from house to hard Swedish techno and everything in between.

Growing up in Santa Cruz, CA there were frequent weekend road trip adventures up to San Francisco to discover her fascination with electronica, and a small but solid club and beach party scene in Santa Cruz which would always bring the city elements down to play. Her DJ habits manifested somewhere early on in 1996 after her love for dancing turned into a frustration at not hearing the sounds that made her move on the dance floor. Her curiosity was also sparked by the fact that there were so very few women rockin' the decks at the events she attended.

By 1997 she moved to the city to attend SFSU and DJ. During her first year in San Francisco she observed all different kinds of musical genres and styles. Tektrix was ready to play in front of a crowd and put her desire to rock the dance floor up to the test. She played at her first house party and discovered that she had both an amazing case of stage fright and an amazing ability to grab the dance floor.

Since then Tektrix has played along side DJ's such as Forest Green, Twerk, Dutch, Plateshifter, Tom L-G, DJ Zeel, Terrac, Sifu, Honey B, Ethan, Andy W, Kit Clayton, and Quantum 23. In 1999 she threw a party called Circle that took place at the Mother's Cookies Warehouse, conducted weekly live internet and pirate radio broadcasts on Vulcan Free Radio, and has become a residents with Grin, Connected, Tetractys, and SISTER SF. She has played at parties such as Static, Friends and Family, Cloud Factory, Circle, Overworld, Burning Man 2000, and Connected.

Now Tektrix has taken a very active role in the DJ community from helping throw events to throwing them herself. She created a website at www.DJ-girl.com that is dedicated to discussing female and DJ issues. She is also a member of the AS Crew that is a collective of DJs and artists from all over the world and the Connected Crew out of Oakland. Tektrix's expression is within her DJ style that she has fine tuned over the years and continues to do so every day
