MC Simone Nia-Rae

Simone Nia-Rae began her creative journey at the age of 12 when she put together bootleg poetry books and gave them out as gifts to family members. Her musical talent was only enhanced upon her graduation from Santa Clara University. She began performing her poetry live at cafés and open mics. this lyrical femcee blasted the bay with her rhyming skills as a member of the group "Wasaname An Dem", which is comprised of five members all of which are male. She has recently performed along side of Tray from Pharcyde, Arrested Development and Hip Hop pioneer KRS-1.

"Its all about makin' that good music." Says Simone "Yeah it is tuff being a female emcee in this industry but that just makes it even more exciting, and it makes my accomplishments even more rewarding. When I get on stage it is like the whole world has an open ear for me and I go from there. Also, having a mentor and teacha' like KRS-1, it seems hard to go wrong, and that is a blessing in itself!" says Simone.

Krs-1 had his own things to say about Simone while they were on tour in Las Vegas, "Simone is Bangin', she has the voice, look and attitude. She's Bangin'!" and I think that says it all!

Wasaname An Dem group album is set for release in December 2004 with a single due in September.
