evefalcon DJ Sharon O' Love

Musical Style: Sharon plays her own brand of energetic, funky, dirty, vocal house. Her style resists pigeon-holing and constantly evolves to suit the crowd, we defy anybody to hear the same set twice!

Like many other DJs it all started in the bedroom, I was bored of the sex so decided to turn on the decks for some light entertainment, this felt good and my perfect threesome was born…me and a pair of Technics.

I started playing in Nottingham at a night called 'Candyland', I was lucky enough to be best mate of the promoter Micky Lloyd. This night was fuelled with energy, polysexual vibes and it became a bit of a family thing, everyone knew each other and I could explore my newly found talents, getting cheeky with the tunes.

Like other good nights, the owners of the club decided they could do it alone and kicked out my best mate who was promoter, before long Candyland had disappeared and is now just a legend to many queer clubbers in Nottingham.

My next break was with the renowned 'Speed Queen', the baby of 'Vague' up in Leeds; I played there for over two years. What a club, what a floor, what an atmosphere. This crowd helped me build my confidence and again I turned my talents to crowd manipulation, I like taking risks with my music and got off on seeing the reactions of the floor.

Once I had played to the Leeds crowd there was really no stopping me.

Barry took me on board at Fresh DJ Management and Promotions about 3 years ago and slowly my name started to spread, especially in Sheffield.

Over the last couple of years Sheffield has been my playground, playing at places like Exhilaration, Rise, Bed, Gatecrasher, Sunday Sessions, Warrbachinos. The Sheffield clubbers have been more than supportive of me over the last year and if you want to know what style I play, ask them, because they have created it for me!

Once I had begun to get a following, it seemed easier to get gigs; the best kind of publicity is clubbers talking….big up the DJ. I have turned to quite a lot of International work including Russia, Dubai, Greece, and Lithuania and have dates coming up this year in South Africa, Greece, Italy, Yugoslavia, Malta and some.

It's hard to describe where I'm at with my music style…it's a soul thing, a body thing, as long as it's House, I will play it. I'm devoted to tune choice every time I play, no matter where and no matter how many people are on the floor. I like intimacy with the floor so don't have a problem with smaller crowds…bring it on!

This last year has matured me, I am now addictive to twisting the knobs in the studio and am determined to get all my production work heard. I have met some of the most influential people in the industry and have built some good relationships, having gained much respect from them for what I do.

My recent track 'No Words' was played on Judge Jules' show by Boy George, George has also invited me to do some remix work with him on his return from the States in April. 'No Words' also got Record of the Week on Graeme Parks' show on Galaxy FM and also charted on many other stations including across the Globe including Italy and USA.

Barry at Fresh DJs is good for me, he wraps me up in cotton wool when I'm feeling sensitive and kicks my ass when I'm being a lazy bummer. With his help and the clubbers who support me I am moving forward fast…'the only way is up'.
