Ms. E
The dynamic Ms.E (Emily Griffin) is in demand for her skills behind
the pulse of positive, music-driven media--as an international DJ,
radio producer and event promoter. Behind the wheels of steel or
on the air, she generates an electrifying fusion of futuristic rhythms--with
an engaging and unforgettable presence in her performances. As a
music lover and jetsetter since day one, Emily grew up with influences
from the radio waves, her rockin family and all dance music.
Emily's pioneering work in radio began in San Francisco circa 1996
when she introduced new evolutions in DJ culture to the airwaves
of the Bay Area on KUSF 90.3, and launched the premier drum&bass/breakbeat
showcase FUTURE
BREAKS FM in 1998 with DJs and co-hosts Push & Gabe Real.
She grew to be a catalyst for the evolution of electronic music
radio, pushing its presence worldwide by producing syndicated public
radio shows and a legacy of Internet transmissions.
Lady E's early obsession for jungle music inspired her to rock
dancefloors like the DJ heroes & heroines she looked up to.
When she joined ladies dMarie & Qzen in starting the weekly
club EKLEKTIC in 1997 with residents Star Eyes & Sage, it quickly
became known and loved worldwide as the leading drum & bass
vibe on the West Coast, and also became Ms.E's platform to hone
in on her skills and her sound. When HEKTIC was created as Eklektic's
joint home of breakstep & nujack funk in 2000, she was asked
to represent as a resident alongside DJs Felix the Dog, Clockwork
and later, Lee Coombs. Her crew from Future Breaks FM and their
soulful drum & bass label TRUE INTENT RECORDINGS also hosted
a Saturday night weekly at the infamous Top DJ Bar in the Lower
Haight from 2000-2003.
A leader who thrives on the forward curve of music and culture,
Emily worked with the team at the globally-respected magazine XLR8R
from 2001-2003. She coordinated the magazine's presence at international
conferences like WMC in Miami, CMJ in New York City and Mutek in
Montreal, as well as producing national event series such as "Are
Friends Electric?" and the 10th Anniversary "Living Magazine"
celebrations. Among other duties, Emily helped the magazine illustrate
their focus on emerging sounds of electronic, hip-hop and indie
music by producing their collectible CD compilation series INCITE.
With world travel and music production a growing priority for this
enterprising b-girl, Ms.E is engaging new evolutions in her career.
A strong advocate of supporting women artists and professionals
in the music & media industry, she continues to develop her
organization ELECTRIC
W.O.M.B., and her new company BEATSYNC
is infusing the film, TV and media industries with world-class electronic
music, with Emily designing the musical direction for specific projects.
