DJ Mis-Ty

Her golden voice accessorizes any jungle bassline with smooth and sweet simplicity, making Taryn Nicole Edmonds a distinguished contributor to our beloved Drum & Bass community. Born in Philadelphia, Mis-Ty began singing radio songs as a baby, then with several school touring ensembles, school plays, choirs, and talent shows until she graduated from high school at age 15.

After falling in love with jungle at her first intro to the rave scene in 1994, she began contributing the music to WKDU 91.7 FM, Drexel Radio in 1995 as she taught herself the basic art of DJing on the station's rugged and aged equipment.

Mis-Ty, otherwise known as "Miss Taryn," remains a member of WKDU 91.7 FM in Philadelphia. You can hear Mis-Ty hosting the return of her show "Wicked Jungle," featuring members of the Substitution Crew and other various guests, every other Monday night from 6 to 9PM on WKDU 91.7 FM.

Mis-Ty is the vocalist featured on GFS recording artist J-Smooth's drum and bass track titled "Come With the Realness," and she also performed with J-Smooth and GFS at Silk City, Philly on September 4, 1999 as part of an all live drum and bass set. She continues to write her own material and is currently in the studio working on projects with other artists.

In addition to her radio show, Mis-Ty remains a member of the Substitution Crew in Philly, known as an MC/vocalist and DJ in the drum and bass scene. It is through this outlet that she has been able to display her vocal talents throughout the U.S. and in Canada, from California to Toronto. Miss Taryn has also further involved herself in the sound that some label as "Neo-Soul." She is a background vocalist in the hip-hop/r&b/rock Philadelphia-based band, Subtle Ground.
