dragn'fly DJ Dragn'fly

It began in May of 1998 when for the first time she actually watched a DJ spin at a rave in her current home of Sacramento, California. The event filled her with a sense of musical rapture and by the end of that party, the decision had been made: Dina Lammon was going to buy some turntables. It was then that Dragn'fly was first conceived....

Since that fateful night, Dragn'fly has evolved from newbie to one of the most requested new talents in Northern California in a mere 2 year period. Her unique style of mixing and her programming skills, influenced by the underground acid-techno talent of San Francisco, have earned her the respect of both veteran DJs and party patrons alike. Not afraid to use the tools of the trade, Dragn'fly takes mixing above the simple progression from one song to another. Her method showcases a near frenzy of sound manipulation while she tweaks her EQs and shreds her vinyl, watching her dancers rise and fall to ecstatic pieces on the dancefloor.

Dragn'fly has an appreciation for all types of music ranging from classical to heavy metal. But her musical tastes were most notably shaped and influenced by the punk and dark industrial eras of the early 80s and early 90s, respectively. It was her interest in these types of sounds that prompted her to spin trance and techno music with a harder edge and a darker tone, while simultaneously savoring some of the more ethereal mixes as well. A typical set played out by Dragn'fly consists of two essential components: variety and hard, banging bass. Other than these two reliable characteristics, the rest is inevitably a delightful surprise...since she never spins the same set twice!

Although booked predominately as a trance DJ, it's hard to confine Dragn'fly to a single genre. Her influences reflect the diversity expressed throughout each of her sets. The common underlying qualities of the material she shares with her dancers are a sense of passion, energy and magnetism - qualities that transform a room of people into a sea of whirling appendages and frothing activity.
