DJ BackSide

Born and raised in east Oakland, CA, DJ BackSide is nothing less than a prodigy. BackSide has only been a DJ since January 2002 and has been makin' moves ever since. Being the new kid on the block is her forte she says - "I think being a new DJ only adds to my resume because if you have the skill early on, it's no tellin' what the future holds." And also, being that her musical roots stem from early childhood exposure to all types of dance and music, it was only natural for her to pick up the trade of DJing.

Beginning at a college radio station in southern California where she was first given a 2am to 5am time slot, she didn't know anything about turntables. But slowly, in those wee hours in the morning, she began to play around on the 1's and 2's and found to love it. Since then, BackSide(named because of the blessed asset that she has), has been a mobile DJ at local Bay Area clubs and since she is still in college (a senior at Williams College in Mass.), she is holding it down at the parties there. Also, BackSide has already put out 3 mixtapes (In The Traffic) with her partner DJ Prime which includes mixes of the newest music out in hip hop today.

And, just to put a twist on it, BackSide is not only a DJ but also a rap artist in a group called Prime Dymes and is in the process of starting an entertainment company called Prime Dymes Entertainment. With plans of making it big in the music/entertainment industry, there is no question that you will know DJ BackSide sooner or later, if not already. Oh and she also would like you to remember to "pop your colla on the flipside."
