DJ Aura

If you can imagine a musically talented, selfless and humble person, then you would know who and what Aura is all about. Aura, a.k.a. Tina Neverra, is known for her versatility as a deejay, guitarist, & pianist. She was formerly known as Lady T-ski, but changed her name as she transformed her musical style and entered into the realm of house music, hoping to fulfill a mission in delivering musical vibes by incorporating her old roots of hip-hop & freestyle and giving maximum pleasure to her audience.

So what is the history behind Aura's musical upbringing? She embarked on her journey by starting with piano at the age of 7 and encountered guitar in her college years at the University of California, Santa Barbara where she graduated with a BA in Economics/Accounting. Her life as a DJ developed from a hint of inspiration that grew into a life long hobby that she now pursues as a career. You could often find her spinning behind the turntables to your favorite funky (disco) house beats early in her set while later uplifting the crowd into a mix of progressive house. Aura's interest in becoming a disc jockey lies behind her love for music, as she believes it to be a "universal language amongst all people and is what sets people free".

Of course, talent is not only self-taught, but is enhanced through positive guidance. Thus, you could frequently find her stopping in the midst of things to show her appreciation to those who have deeply inspired her. First and foremost, her brother Nel introduced her to the art of deejaying as well as to the form of house music and is currently the technical savvy & co-producer of her upcoming tracks. Secondly, industry artists such as DJ Sneak and his dynamics during live remixes, Derrick Carter's funky techniques, & Donald Glaude's ability to move the crowd helped mold & shape Aura's style as it is today.

Aura's musical accomplishments not only include creating 4 CDs out of her mini home studio, but also a record label called Aural Recordings in which her brother and business partner created. In addition, Aura is also a member & co-founder of a bay area band, Candy for Strangers. As her deejaying and musical endeavors are ongoing, so are her goals and dreams. Within the years to come, she aspires to produce house tracks, remixes and different genres of music (alternative, Top 40, R'n'B, etc.). Aura is also working toward developing a full studio available to new and upcoming artists so that she could help others carry out their dreams and so that she could keep the music alive!!
