anitadecastro DJ Anita DeCastro

In 1984, Anita DeCastro was born in Brasilia, Brazil. Over the next decade Anita moved from country to country before finally settling in the United States to attend high school. At the age of 14, following her freshman year in high school, she moved to Biberach, Germany, where she studied the language and the culture. It was in Berlin where she attended the world famous Love Parade and got her first taste of electronica. She soon returned to the US where she attended her first rave in Indianapolis, Indiana...once again mesmerized by the pounding beats and flowing mixes of the music.

A year later, Anita purchased her first turntables and started teaching herself the art of beat-matching. Being the quick learner that she is, it came naturally and took only eight months for Scarab Records to include her on their roster.

Being only 18, Anita has been invited to showcase her skills at various major festivals. Some include the Midwest Music Summit, which she will be performing at once again later this year, Winter Music Conference 2003, and World Electronic Music Festival in Toronto. Her dark mixture of nu-skool and funky breaks combined with her energetic stage presence has enchanted numerous crowds placing her amongst the favorites.

If not behind the decks, Anita can be found in the studio collaborating with several artists whose styles range from electronica to hip-hop to world beats. Recently she has just taken on the position as Vice President of Kaution Klik Records, an up and coming label specializing in hip-hop. Her other ambitions include a partnership in the initiation of a multimedia design company, Media Assault, that specializes in the creation of digital media. This year she's working towards positively influencing the youth to pursue their artistic goals by sharing her life experience. The remarkable combination of her young age and vast accomplishments make Anita DeCastro a name to follow.
