3d Third Dimension Sound

Third Dimension Sound is the first all female system to come out of Barbados. This fledgling organization is comprised of two female deejays, and their manager and booking agent, Ricardo "Slick" Hinkson.

Slick believes that partygoers are "hungry" for something new, and says, There is nothing sexier than two beautiful energetic women on stage in a male-dominated arena, in control and strutting their stuff...women see a whole new dimension to themselves when they watch my girls, and the men...well they just want them...they like the action...and their affiliation with their sponsor Passoa is definitely an added bonus!

Each of these ladies brings their individual tastes, attitudes and skills to introduce a total product to the industry, and they have learned that a crucial aspect of being part of any group is co-ordination and co-operation at every level. The element of co-operation comes to the fore especially at 3D's twice (sometimes thrice) weekly practice sessions, where they have become the well co-ordinated team, which is 3D. Hence their maxim: "The Next Level".

IIID seeks to emulate the idea often preached but rarely practiced: that everyone in their audience leaves satisfied. It is towards this end that they have moulded themselves into perhaps the most versatile Deejays on the island, and will cater for any taste.

They have shared stages with the "who's who" of Caribbean entertainment, also performing at events such as Wet Fete 2k3 and Battle of the Sexes Barbados 2k3. This exposure has made them very aware of their responsibilities as public figures and entertainers. Not many people view the entertainment industry as part of a greater education system, but Third Dimension is hoping to change that perspective. According to Fyahstarter, ...we speak to the young people...they are our peers...they listen to us, and they look up to us...if we can teach by example and through the music, then why not?

Hurricane

Toni "Hurricane" Hinkson, Barbados' newest female Deejay, has made waves locally under the wing of the MonstaPiece Crew, and has made her mark as one of the most versatile and talented females in the industry. Discovered by Peter Coppin in 1998, she was dropped in feet first and has since then, made crazy, high-energy performances her trademark. She is regarded as "...the original psycho..."

This Accounts Clerk-by-day, and Psycho Deejay-by-night says, everything I do, I do it hard...I party hard and with a clear conscience and so that I can sleep at night. If someone's going to call me on what I preach, I can look them straight in the eye and rise to the challenge.

Fyahstarter a.k.a. Baby Herbalist

Tiffany "Fyahstarter" Whittaker, as a part-time bartender was able to watch the performances of many Bajan sound systems including Hurricane of MonstaPiece, Black Cat, Bard Int'l, and Connection Sounds.

She realized that her interest in DJing was really was being taken seriously when she was snapped up despite her lack of experience. Slick said, she asked all the right questions

"Fyahstarter", a.k.a. "Baby Herbalist" brought a wealth of knowledge of current music and the classics.

"Fyahstarter's" philosophy on life is, "...never judge anyone on face value". She herself is a prime example, for while some may assume that she is shy and withdrawn, her "bull-by-the-horns" attitude and "never-back-down" mentality have made her into a show-stopper.

ThreeD's music focus? According to Hurricane: Anything that can ram de dance, and make de people dem get wild!!! Translation: Anything that will pack a dancefloor and get the party jumping.

They therefore have an extensive collection of island music, including: dancehall (reggae and dub), Soca. As for International music, their pet is undeniably Hip Hop, while Dance/Jungle, and Techno have been taking off since the opening of Club Extreme on the south coast of the island.
